The project
The AEM-Speedport project is our big step towards automating ground traffic at airports. In the future, we will move aircraft autonomously, without their own engines, from the gate to the runway and back again after landing.
In concrete terms, this means that we avoid unnecessary engine running, which not only significantly reduces fuel consumption, but also drastically reduces CO₂ emissions. By using the latest technology, we control this process, thereby increasing safety and at the same time reducing handling times. In this way, we not only make airport operations greener, but also faster and more effective!
What we are planning
To make all ground operations at airports more environmentally friendly and efficient. By eliminating engine power during ground movements, we will reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
By using the latest sensors and AI technology, we control the movements of the aircraft safely and precisely. The pushback process is initially controlled remotely before being implemented fully autonomously. With this innovation, we increase safety, avoid collisions and create a future-proof, digital infrastructure.
In addition, automated processes at the airport speed up and make operations safer. This not only helps the environment, but also the economic efficiency of aviation.
